- Know where you’ll be ahead of time. Set your thermostat to remember your daily schedule, and automatically readjust to a higher temperature when you plan to be away. If your regular schedule changes, make a note to make a temporary change to the thermostat or permanently reset your schedule. - Consider a Wi-Fi thermostat. Today, “smart thermostats” use the wireless internet in a home in order to give you the ability to operate your air conditioning and heating system remotely from an app on your smart phone.
